Last Days in LA with an Embroidered Kimono

One of my last weekends in LA, I decided to check out the Getty Villa with the boyfriend and his family. I had a rather wonderful staycation and time off from research and the lab, and I am feeling energized to start research again at my new job this week! I officially start today! For my first day, I’m going to dress up a little more formal, but this is totally an outfit I would wear to lab when I’m finally settled in!

The Getty Villa is part museum, part gardens. It was so beautiful, I just had to take some shots of my pretty outfit. I fell in love with this really pretty Lace Insert Embroidered Kimono I tried from Sammy Dress, it was just the perfect cover up for the breeze. It was rather warm during the day in LA and then at night it cooled down a bit, so just a really great transition piece! I also adored the lace and embroidery on it — I have talked about embroidery in the past as being in style this season, and I was so happy to get my hands on a piece! Aaaaand it is so affordable! I thoroughly enjoyed styling it.  In this outfit, I paired it with a solid red criss cross tank from Express, and just a pair of dark comfy jeans from YMI Jeans, and some sandals! This is also a really cute outfit to wear to the lab – you are covered up if you wear some closed-toed shoes or sneakers, and can remove the kimono to wear a lab coat or add it when you are cold from the air condition (I know I was always cold in lab, the air was always on!)

What do you think about this outfit? Would you wear it to work? Do you like embroidered pieces this year, and do you think Kimonos are still in? I think they’re rather versatile pieces in late summer/early fall when it is still warm but the temperatures drop in the evening!

I remember you showing the Getty Villa once here, dear Andrea and since then I was eager to go there! How beautiful these pictures are lovely! I loved your kimono, everything floral catches my eye and you look very beautiful! One of the best outfits I have seen here, and you always have so many beautiful ones! Hope you have a beautiful day and that you are fine! Congrats for the new research job!
