Summer mode is in full effect and I’m excited to have some time off from research while I move/transition to my new research position – but I’m looking forward to relaxing, heading to the beach, doing a few day trips, hikes, being out in nature, and taking some time off from social media. I’ve been way too glued to my phone and facebook/instagram/twitter lately, so it will do me some good to unplug. I am excited to wear a ton of summer-y clothes I’ve had in my closet for too long and not gotten a chance to wear!
A trend I’ve been too shy to try on is the off the shoulder ruffle look. As a girl having a larger top, I always thought a dress like that would kinda drown me out and just be unflattering, and I always thought a flowy dress would make me look boxy and big. This really pretty “Flounce” Off the Shoulder Belted Red dress I tried from Sammy Dress was just the opposite – and I loved it. It came with a little belt too but I decided I liked the look of it just flowing! It just screams summertime and carefree! The floral pattern is also really pretty and I’m loving floral prints for this summer! I paired the dress with some chunky heels I’ve blogged before that I got from a thrift store, and it just completed the look! This dress is also really affordable, and it was on sale – so I really loved everything about it. I also wore it out for drinks near the beach, so it was the perfect summer dress. Casual, not too dressy, and perfect summer vibes. I left my hair down and tousled, did a simple makeup with a tinted dark lip. I didn’t put a necklace on but if I did I would do a simple, thin gold chain with a small charm. I normally would style with statement necklace, but with the ruffles and the style, I wouldn’t want to overpower the details of the dress!
