Hello again! 🙂 Welcome to Day 4 of the #MoreThanEnough Campaign, and today I’m featuring Marie Rau, from www.financialablebymarie.com !
#1: Tell us a little bit about yourself and your blog
Hello! My name is Marie Rau and I am a Finance, Fashion and Lifestyle blogger living in Washington DC. I work a full time job as a Business Analyst focusing on financial systems. I recently graduated from the University of Maryland with my MBA and Master of Finance. I have a lifelong passion for fashion and the creativity it inspires in me. Therefore, I wanted to combine my financial education and desire to be creative and create a blog. As well, I wanted it to be a platform for women to educate themselves on current financial matters.
#2: How long have you been blogging and what inspired you to get started?
I have been blogging for about a year but more regularly for 8 months. I have always wanted to blog but finally just did it!
#3: Was there anything that ever held you back from blogging or made you apprehensive?
When thinking about blogging I would get intimidated by sharing personal information with people. It’s always hard to put yourself out there for judgment.
#4: Do you blog full time or on the side? If on the side, what’s your profession?
I blog on the side and have a
full time job as a Business Analyst
#5: What’s your best general career advice?
Make sure that you are developing yourself. I always try and take advantage of any learning opportunity
#6: What do you think makes someone a #girlboss?
A girl boss is anyone that is confident in her abilities and knows she can contribute in a work situation. As well, she actually DOES contribute. It may include standing up to other people and making them know that your idea or method is the best. Girl bosses juggle the day to day lifestyle while always taking on more challenges.
#7: What are you favorite ways to make yourself feel confident?
I love to do some self care.
Whether its just taking 5 minutes to exfoliate and lotion my skin or heading in for a pedicure I always feel more “clean” and beautiful after
#8: What advice would you give someone who is struggling to find their personal style?
Don’t hold back. If you see a crazy orange skirt that you love but are afraid what others will think just rock it. Make sure your personal style reflects who you are as a person. You should feel happy in what you wear
#9: What is your go-to power outfit?
Anything. As long as there are a killer pair of heels. Heels always make me feel powerful, especially in an interview session
#10: How do you feel women could do a better job supporting one another?
Women are easily intimidated by other women. In reality we need to band together and support each other in work environments instead of trying to bully other women. The best thing a woman can do is find self confidence. Then she will be less likely to be unsupportive of other women if she is confident in her own ability. Taking time to take a step back and realize being mean to one female isn’t going to make your life better
#11: Do you ever experience social media envy? If so, how do you overcome it?
ALL THE TIME. I just have to remind myself that I am never going to be perfect. No one is perfect. I try and take time to be grateful for what I am and the creative outlet that my blog/Instagram gives me
#12: What advice would you give to an aspiring blogger?
Just do it. Start writing blog posts, even if you don’t publish them for practice. Also, there are so many article written by other bloggers explaining how they get started. Utilize those resources!
